A young Muslim woman laughed when her photo was taken, which horrified her. for a moment “Woman are supposed to be serious in photos,” she said but let the photo be sewn on the boat anyway. “We are in America. The work has been exhibited often, most recently in Paris’ at Jardin du Luxembourg, as part of a cultural exchange for the Centre Culturel Irlandais, and also at the Royal Hibernian Academy: Best of Irish Contemporary Art in Dublin and the Metropolitan Arts Centre in Belfast. Milligan, who studied sculpture on scholarship at Bath Spa University in Bath, England, is a part of Umha Aois, a collective of artists and archaeologists with, as their name suggests, a shared interest in all things copper, bronze, and of the Bronze Age.
